Christie Nicholls Nittrouer is a Los Angeles based SAW (stand-up comedian, actor, and writer). After completing a PhD in Performance Studies at UCLA's esteemed school of Theatre, Film, and Television, Christie began performing her own material as a comedian and actor. Nicholls Nittrouer draws on her unique comedy expertise (the “doctor of comedy”), an extensive writing background, dance/movement training, adept vocal production, and a lifelong curiosity for the study of psychology and behaviorism, to all her characters and impersonations.
Nicholls Nittrouer has starred in numerous critically acclaimed independent films, as well as television comedies and dramas, and you probably recognize her from her commercial work. Nobody can play relatable villains, enraged a--holes, and truly exasperated humans better than Nicholls.
Christie is a playful prankster, a vulnerable joker, and she is deeply curious about her fellow humans. She is guided by a devout principle she discovered after researching and performing comedy, and after getting through a bad depression -- comedy is composting. Christie applies this philosophy to her work, taking any and all pain/fear/anxiety and mining it for nutrients (laughter/ah ha moments) to share with others. Nicholls Nittrouer is flexible as an artist; she can be searing, she can be light, but she always draws on a bountiful sense of play.
Coming Soon…
Christie’s magnum opus, In Hot Water, a sketch comedy special, is an ode to her experience with postpartum depression during the pandemic. It stars Nicholls Nittrouer as 85-year-old Jane Fonda in a series of absurd realism sketches, culminating in scintillating hot tub interviews.
Can’t wait…
Curious about Christie’s formative years? Pick up a copy of Elephants In My Room, a “certified fresh” Indie awarded “delightful collection of hilarious autobiographic essays.” Available on Amazon.
Personally…
In her free time Christie Nicholls Nittrouer can be found adventuring with her husband of 15 years “Weaz” (Weasel), her two magical daughters Vickie and Sonnie, her shelter rescues: pups Maverick and George Carlin, and cat, Phil. Christie loves: celebrating any/all holidays with tacky decorations, a full-bodied Syrah or a crisp sparkling rosé, long runs to good tunes, building/playing/giggling with her kids, any and all active sports (boxing, distance running, and skiing especially), *67 to block her number when she prank calls in any/all voices, travel (both the gritty and luxurious), reading any and all nonfiction books, commuting via bike whenever possible (she is biking distance to Sony, Amazon Studios, and HBO), her aforementioned co-dependent pets, extended hot tub sessions, volunteering in some capacity (Pet therapy at the children's hospital/Vet hospital/Cancer Treatment, Meals on Wheels delivery, Senior/Homebound Wellness calls, and more), watching Mets games (only when they win - so, infrequently), making really good cups of tea and coffee, playing: piano, flute, French horn, singing very loudly, and making people laugh until they produce tears or piss. This last one is her favorite thing.
